Wall Borders
The easier way to add prints or designs to your wall is to
apply wall borders as opposed to the more involved ordeal of applying wallpaper. With just a thin strip of
paper to work with, it will be quick and simple to decorate a room with appealing wall detailing. While paint
can be applied in a variety of different techniques to add interest and appeal, a border can bring much more
creative prints to generate just the right ambience for any room.
The paint color for a room will be chosen to complement an
already selected wallpaper border or alternatively just the right color and designed border will need to be found
for a paint color. If there is a room that you want to add a bit more interest to and the wall paint is in
suitable condition then choosing a border to enhance the room will be necessary. However, if the paint and
wallpaper are both being selected, it is best to find the border you like and then select the paint colors to go
with the colors in the border. This is a much easier way to get the best coordination as you can get paint in
virtually any color, tone and intensity, while there is a limited selection of borders.
Although borders can be adhered to all the walls of a room, you
can achieve an excellent look by having the border on just one or two walls to accent certain furniture in the
room, or create a different ambience in a part of the room. For instance, a living room may be set up to
accommodate children’s toys and/or children’s seating so a child-themed border along the wall where the kids stuff
is would create a slight separation and a more special area for the children, especially if they got to pick out
the border. Applying borders to two joining walls in a kitchen could be an effective way to set the eating
area apart from the cooking and preparing area of the kitchen. The borders can be placed along just part of
the wall as well, just be sure that the cut-off of the border is a nice straight cut as it will be quite noticeable
when it stops along the wall.
The borders can be placed on different areas of the wall to
achieve different decorating effects. Having the border along the top on the wall, usually a couple of inches
from the ceiling looks best, is good to bring the look of the room together more without being an obvious
border. Borders put halfway or a third of the way down the wall is a more visually focused effect that will
create the need for the border design to be well suited in color and design with the wall paint color and the
contents of the room.
With a wide array of wall borders to choose from that appeal to
children and adults alike, every room could be uniquely personalized with pictures, designs or patterns that
represent personal tastes and create an appealing decor.
